What is Spiritism
The collections of the following essays aren’t an exhaustive summary of Spiritism, but explore different aspects of Spiritism. I have written Spiritism 101 – The 3rd Revelation to supply an introduction to the central tenets to the Doctrine of Spiritism.
To fully discover Spiritism, one should start with The Spirits Book, by Allan Kardec. Then read his other books, such as The Gospel According to Spiritism, The Book of Mediums, Heaven and Hell, and Genesis. All of his books can be found in pdf versions for free on the internet or can be purchased at Amazon or at the Spiritist Society book store online.
I have written many books on Spiritism, but the two main to start with are: The Case for Reincarnation – Your Path to Perfection and Explore Your Destiny – Since Your Life’s Path is (mostly) Predetermined. In the first book I review all of the currently available information (in English) about how and why we reincarnate, and how we are often part of our life planning. In Explore Your Destiny, I survey what is known about how the spirit realm has guided our earth, the spheres around, on top, and under the earth, and the organization of the spirit world.
I also urge everyone to read Francisco (Chico) C. Xavier’s book Nosso Lar. It is the first of a series of books by the spirit Andre Luiz, who dictated the book to Chico Xavier. Andre starts the book by recounting his time in the Lower Zone, a type of purgatory and how he was rescued by spirit guides and taken to the heavenly city Nosso Lar. His subsequent books are about different aspects of how the spirit realm helps and guides incarnates and discarnates around the lower spheres of the earth.
A movie was made of the first book and is available on Amazon. It is in Portuguese, with English subtitles. I highly recommend it. It is one of the few movies I enjoy seeing over and over again. The move title is “Nosso Lar”, or you can find it under “Astral City”.
In summary, the spirits told us that Spiritism can be summed up in one phrase – the Golden Rule. Do unto others what you would have them do unto you – take that concept and apply it over not just one lifetime but many and you have the essence of Spiritism. Everything follows from the precept of love, kindness, charity, and honesty toward your fellow humans – no matter their race, creed, nationality, sexual orientation, or any other method to filter a person. All should be treated with respect.
